About Author Richard F Holmes

I was born in London in 1955 and have lived a very topsy turvey life. I left school at 15 with no qualifications, and had I not left voluntarily, I would have been asked to leave. I always felt that I didn't fit in anywhere, and as a result, by the time I reached the age of 17 I'd had 24 jobs. I joined the army in 1976 hoping that it would give me a purpose in life but instead I became even more disillusioned and turned to alcohol. I hated the army because I found it to be such a hypocritical organisation and as soon as I was eligible to do so, I bought myself out. Whilst in the military however, I did enjoy my experiences in Germany and in 1980 went back there to work, staying for six years. My heavy drinking continued during my time in Germany and by the time I returned to the UK in 1986 I was heading down into a deep depression. I managed to haul myself out of it in the mid-to-late 1990's but my life hit an all time low in 2000. In early 2001 I found my spiritual pathway and started to turn my life around. I now live in Gloucestershire in the UK and I'm a successful medium and healer. I'm also the author of ten spiritual publications and have produced five meditation and three chanting CDs. I'm a workshop facilitator in various spiritual topics and I also give profound interpretations of dreams. There are plans in 2014 for another book, provisionally entitled "An Idiots Guide To Spiritual Law" and a series of audio books in CD form. Thought For The Day #111

Quote

Man falsely imagines “I am doing this”, “I am planning this”. It is the supreme, all pervasive consciousness that motivates, unfolds the skills and operates the intellect – Sri Sathya Sai Baba

All things splendid have been achieved by those who dared believe that something inside them was superior to circumstance – Bruce Barton

Quote

I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy – Rabindranath Tagore

Thought For The Day #108

Quote

The master is within; meditation is meant to remove the ignorant idea that he is only outside. If he is a stranger whom you await, he is bound to disappear also. What is the use of a transient being like that? But so long as you think you are separate or that you are the body, an external master is also necessary and he will appear to have a body. When the wrong identification of oneself with the body ceases, the master will be found to be none other than the Self – Ramana Maharshi

Thought For The Day #107

Quote

Every night before you fall asleep, replay in your mind the good moments of the day, and give heartfelt thanks for each one of them. Think about the next day also, and intend that it is going to be amazing, that it is going to be filled with love and joy, and that all good is coming to you. Intend that it is going to be the best day of your life. Then when you wake in the morning, BEFORE you get out of bed, declare your intentions again for the day and give deep thanks as though you have received them all – Rhonda Byrne

Quote

I have become my own version of an optimist. If I can’t make it through one door, I’ll go through another door – or I’ll make a door. Something terrific will come no matter how dark the present – Rabindranath Tagore

Today’s Thought For The Day is dedicated to my Sai Sister Nelline Naidoo who is currently in the throes of illness.  May Swami’s love forever touch your heart sweet soul.

See with the eyes of love

Hear with the ears of love,

Work with the hands of love,

Thinks thoughts of love,

Feel love in every nerve.

Arise, transcend Thyself, thou art man and the whole nature of man
Is to become more than himself – Sri Aurobindo

Thought For The Day #102

Quote

A leader is a ladder. Indeed, a leader is he who lifts his followers up, and not he who pushes his followers down. A supreme leader is he who has the dreamer’s eyes and the doer’s hands – Sri Chinmoy
