Ricky’s Raw Recipes #12

Hello raw food slurpers! It’s been a few weeks since my last recipe so I thought it was about time to raid my fridge again and see what I could knock up. This recipe really is a concoction because, as things stand, the cupboards (and fridge) are a bit bare.

So, I started as usual by adding a large glass of water to my blender. I then added an apple, a stick of celery, half a green pepper, a piece of cucumber and a good quantity of spinach. I topped this off with the juice of half a lime. The end result was just about palatable, however, I’m including this recipe for a good reason. Had I not been out of fresh root ginger and been able to add a large chunk to the mix, I’m sure it would have been a great raw food concoction. It didn’t make me grimace when I was drinking but there was definitely something lacking. Try it yourself, but make sure you add the ginger, and if the taste doesn’t transport you immediately to juice heaven I’ll eat my blender! Laterz…

2007-11-08 14.21.44This is a great little juice that I threw together today. Shock! Horror! It was the second day in a row that I juiced without fresh ginger; I even went shopping and forgot to buy it. So, all the more reason for me to post this recipe because even without ginger it tasted great! Here goes…

I added just under a pint of water to my blender and threw in a stick of celery, a chunk of cucumber, a handful of red grapes, some green beans, an apple and a generous helping of spinach. I whizzed as I went along and gave the whole lot a good old whizzing at the end. I have found now that the longer you whiz, the closer your concoction gets to being a smoothie!

I’m going to finish with a question:

This recipe is a take on others I’ve posted before but with an ingredient that I haven’t used up until now. It’s another simple recipe. As ever, start by adding water to your blender. Then in no particular order, chop your apple and ginger and add celery, spinach and cucumber. This time we are also going to add some curly kale. Use whatever amounts take your fancy and give it all a good whizzing. Then stick a little umbrella in the top and a straw (preferably one of the bendy ones, it will make it taste better) and imagine you are laying on a beach somewhere in paradise.

If you are now wondering where you are, you have just entered Juice Utopia; oh yes!!! 001

002This is another very refreshing juice with the emphasis on simplicity. As ever, you put a glass of water into your blender, then you add an apple, a good chunk of fresh root ginger, a chunk of fennel and as much spinach as you can cram in. Blitz till you can’t blitz no more and simply enjoy this wonderful tasting juice.

001Here is a quick juice that is so simple and refreshing; I’m sure you will love it! Just put some water into your blender followed by a hand full of fine green beans, a baby courgette, a nice chunk of fresh root ginger and an apple. Blitz until you can’t blitz no more, then merge as one with juice heaven as the nectar rolls down your throat. Go on!!! You know it makes sense!

001This is another recipe that will really tantalize your taste buds, so have your blender ready! Add water to your jug followed by fine green beans, celery, an 85g bag of rocket leaves, good chunk of fresh root ginger, an apple AND a whole raw beetroot. Blitz as you go along and give the whole lot a good old blitz at the end, adding more water if required. Now, be a real caveman; raise the jug to your lips and savour the feeling as your raw juice just rolls down your throat. Luverly!!!!

Watch this space. There will be another post a little later with an announcement!

001Like my previous raw food recipe this one is really refreshing and most palatable and it works on the principle that less is more (only four ingredients this time). Today’s recipe, like all my others really, was driven by what I had in my fridge at the time and what was about to turn. The result was this delicious juice, which I know you will enjoy. As with the last recipe I will give you the exact proportions I used.

As usual I put a good measure of water into the blender followed by a medium-sized carrot and a good chunk of fresh root ginger and blitzed. I had one apple left that was just getting to the point where it was starting to look a bit sorry for itself, so that was the next thing to go in. Then I had about 150g of spinach left in a 200g bag that was one day past its “use-by” date, so the whole lot went in. I gave it a good old blitz, adding a bit more water, and glugged it down for my breakfast.

I’m so full of energy now that I’m actually stuck to the ceiling and typing by proxy. Happy blitzing my friends!

003You will love this one. It is simple and just pure indulgence; in fact the word “delicious” falls way short of describing how lush this recipe actually is. Get ready for juice heaven!!!

I will give you this recipe in the exact proportions that I used. Add a small glass of water to your blender and throw in a good-sized chunk of fresh root ginger. Chop up one carrot and throw it in followed by a hand full of spinach. Finish off by adding two apples. Blitz as you go along and add more water as necessary. Finally, sit back, think of England and let it roll down your throat. Go on, admit it, you really are in juice heaven; aren’t you?

001You will just love this one! Very palatable; in fact, I found this juice absolutely delicious (and I remembered to take a pic this time)!

Add water to your blender along with a 125g bag of rocket and baby leaf salad. Then add fennel, celery, apple, avocado, ginger and lemon juice. Blitz as you go along and when you’ve got the whole lot in the blender give it another good blitzing to remove any lumps (this goes for all recipes). Then just glug it down and enjoy!

If you are wondering why I’ve suddenly gone blitz-mad and started posting recipes on my blog, it’s just a way of keeping me and my blog active while things are a bit quiet in other departments. The out-of-body experiences seem to have dried up for the time being and there’s nothing else of note, spiritual-wise, to blog about at the moment, so the raw food thing seems like a good idea. I’m also considering doing features on various spiritual centres that I serve too. In the meantime, just keep blitzing!!

001I have to confess that I glugged this one down so quickly I forgot to take a pic, so the pic on display is of another juice! So, here we go…

Water, courgette, fennel, apple, ginger, lemon juice and an 85g bag of peppery watercress. If you find that the watercress gives the juice a really overpowering taste you can add extra apple or a pear to counteract it. This one was interesting to say the least, but bear in mind that all my recipes are concoctions based on what I have in the fridge at the time.

The general rule is, if it’s green; blitz it, if it isn’t; blitz it! Happy blitzing!!!!
