As Peace Descends

As I lay here and gently drift away

I don’t have any more to say

I’m off to the realm of telepathy

Where everything is beautiful, and

Souls fly free

There are no regrets as peace descends

I face a new beginning

Not the end

Yes, there was pain

Yes, there was suffering

There was also bitter disappointment along the way

As I fought and stumbled through each day

But, I also loved until my heart was fit to burst

I beheld the reflection of the summer sun

Dancing across lakes and rivers

I witnessed the changing colours of the trees

As Mother Nature weaved her autumn magic

I felt the crisp cold of a winter’s morn

I’ve gazed into the eyes of an infant, and

Been confronted by the wisdom of the ages

I’ve been caressed by a gentle breeze as I looked out to sea

And watched in awe as the sun set on the horizon

Now as my sun goes down on the horizon of life

My body will decay and be consumed by Mother Earth

But my spirit will fly, and

Bask in the glory of Universal Love

Until such time as my heart once again hears the call

Then shall I return anew

And like the flowers of spring

I will bloom again

The Leaf That Fell From The Tree

Don’t weep for me

The leaf that fell from the tree

I was once looking down

But now, down I lie

I’m preparing to die

But don’t weep for me

The leaf that fell from the tree

I turned brown and I fell down

But I’m only in transition

I’m in my rightful position

To get a bit moshed, and

a bit squashed

Or, I may dry and crumble

If the rain clouds don’t rumble

I feed the earth

She gives me life anew

It’s only a matter of time

Before I again enjoy the view

Resplendent in green

Surveying the scene

So come, human

Admire my hue

I only experience the same process as you

We live and we die

But there’s no need to cry

We both adorn the wheel of illusion

And, our being is as One, eternal

Weep not, but praise Mother Nature

I’m replenished, I’m offspring

I’m “Of the Spring”

Weep not, but embrace the joy

Weep not for me

The leaf that once fell from the tree

Oh Majestic Sun

Oh Majestic Sun

I feel your power surge,

through the veins of this mortal body

As you graciously gift me another day

But is this another day?

Or, the same day experienced differently

In the one, single, eternal moment of Now?

As I step out into the world

Coaxed by the melodic symphony

Of Mother Nature and her orchestra

As I inhale the perfume of your love

The answer to that question

Pales into insignificant hypothesis

Roll Hills Roll

Roll hills, roll

With your chameleon-like colours

Ever changing, with each passage of time

What secrets do you hold?

Roll hills, roll, roll on

Bask in golden sunlight

Be cooled by the rain

Allow the elements to sooth your pain

We share the same father, you and I

Yet my brothers and sisters beat your brow

Roll hills, roll

Take refuge in your beauty

Drink from Mother Nature’s cup

Eat at her table

Celebrate your glory

time and time again

In the overcoming of human inflicted adversity

Roll hills, roll, roll on

And roll on again

Roll on into eternity

Beautiful Earth

Beloved friend

New Life

Love breathes in

Mother nature waits in excited anticipation

Love breathes out

Behold!

New Life

Who Came First

Said the acorn to the world, “I give to you the great oak tree.”

Said the great oak tree to the world, “I give to you the acorn.”

Mother nature spoke, “Who came first?”

“Twas the mighty oak,” said the acorn.

“Twas the acorn,” said the mighty oak

Love suddenly spoke…

“You came together, as One, out of the Timeless Wilderness,

And as One, shall you remain.

A Letter To My 10 Year-Old Self

I’ve had the absolute pleasure recently, through work, to be involved in several creative writing sessions. In the last session I attended the group was tasked with writing a letter of guidance to our 10 year-old self. We had to imagine that we were 90 year-olds and the letter also had to have a Spring theme, to coincide with the new life that is now springing up all around us. Well, I’m not sure if my letter met the Spring theme entirely, but there was a bit of a hint in there at least. I decided to share my letter via this blog because I found it to be the most beautiful exercise and I was quite struck by the way the words just seemed to flow from within me. Try it yourself, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Wow mate! What a kid you are! I know you don’t understand yet why things are the way they are, but you are doing just great. Remember, everything that you experience in life shapes you into the person you will evolve in to. Try not to worry about all the hurtful stuff, one day you will realise how lucky you are to have the insight that is developing within you, even as I write. Look to Mother Nature because she has much to teach you. For example, the beautiful blossom on the trees that line your road, and the adjacent roads, is there for all to enjoy.

Mother Nature doesn’t discriminate; her trees give fruit and shelter to all, regardless of status; both king and beggar alike can eat of the fruit and seek shelter in the shade.

You have noticed at a very young age the prejudice and inequality that exist in the world. But, look to Mother Nature; she will guide you. Just be yourself and be as the blossom – spread your love indiscriminately.

Smile and be happy.

Practicalities

I’m writing this post with my UK subscribers in mind, however, I’m sure that readers from all around the world will also be able to relate to the central theme.

At the moment in the UK, we are seemingly lurching from crisis to crisis, with each new event appearing to be more diabolical than the previous. We had the pandemic; now the cost of living crisis, the energy crises and a few other things thrown in for good measure. As expected, the mass media is taking great delight in churning out headlines of doom and gloom that the majority of people have fallen for, hook, line and sinker. As a result, the vast majority of the population is living in constant fear. This may be normal for the masses, but what makes the current situation slightly different is that it just seems to be relentless. Certainly in my lifetime, I have never known such a chain of events on the scale that we have at this moment in time. Metaphorically, it is as though the mental health of the vast majority of people in this country is being battered relentlessly by giant waves, with no sign of a let-up. The obvious thing to alleviate this problem would be for everyone to throw away their television sets and stop reading newspapers. WHAT?! I know, I know… I can hear you shouting expletives at the screen; how would Brits be able to survive without Coronation Street, Eastenders and the super-soaring, rip-roaring Sun?

Quite easily actually. But, we all know that people are not going to throw away their TVs and stop reading newspapers. After all, why would anyone allow their pain, fear and suffering to be interrupted by happiness?

On a more serious note, I’m going to share here what works for me, and I will add that I’m not pretending to be some sort of guru and I’m the first to admit that I sometimes fall into the traps that my egoic mind sets for me. But in the main, I don’t do too badly in a crisis, and that is due to having faith in the benevolence of our wonderful universe and a very basic understanding of the laws of physics. The first two things to understand are that:

There is always enough.

There is more where that came from.

Does anyone seriously believe that our wonderfully benevolent universe, or Mother Nature, if you want to use another name, doesn’t have enough to go around? There is, always has been and always will be, enough for everybody. The fact that it does not appear to be so has nothing to do with Mother Nature. The truth is that the collective consciousness of our species doesn’t care enough to stop people dying of hunger and a lack of fresh, clean drinking water. There is no need for anyone in our society to go without the basics for what is needed to live a comfortable life. If you know in your heart those two things, “there is always enough” and “there is more where that came from,” your needs will always be met.

Now onto the laws of physics. You don’t have to be Einstein; far from it, this is very basic stuff. The first thing to understand here is that nothing exists except consciousness, which is in a constant state of flux and vibrates at varying degrees of subtlety. In our physical world, consciousness has modulated itself into its grossest form, which we call “matter.” For the sake of this article, hereon I’m going to refer to consciousness in all of its varying forms as “energy.”  It’s also worth mentioning before we go any further, that centuries before humans invented religions and scriptures, the first spiritual texts told us that spirituality and science are two sides of the same coin and cannot be separated. It’s a good thing that I remembered to slip that in because I am now about to hit you with a paradox.

Energy consists of zillions of separate cells, which are actually not separate at all. These cells also communicate with each other.

Yes, every cell has its own intelligence and metaphorically speaking, energy cells “talk” to each other. If two or more cells find that they are speaking the same language, they are attracted to each other and they come together in a creative manner. This is where the laws of attraction and cause and effect come into play, and it is these two laws that most concern us. Like all other natural laws, these two laws are very precise and cannot be tinkered with. First, cause and effect; “for every action there is a reaction.” All actions have consequences; these can be negative, indifferent or positive, depending on the action. But, if we link this simple statement with what was written before about the giving nature of the universe, and also now add in the law of attraction, “energy flows where attention goes,” this makes for some really powerful stuff. So, if you are the kind of person who is constantly going on about how you need more money, you need this and you want that, then you are going to cause serious problems for yourself. Remember, the universe will always only give you EXACTLY what you ask for (give most attention to). So, when you are shaking your fist at the heavens and pleading poverty, you are actually affirming LACK. You are telling Mother Nature that you are living a life of lack, so she will simply comply with your wishes and give you more of the same.

As well as your body and the world around you, your thoughts are also comprised of energy cells, chattering away with their “mates” out in the ether. This means that cells of energy that are vibrationally aligned (speaking the same language) will be attracted to each other creatively. This is how we all create and attract situations and people into our lives.

In a nutshell, the easiest way to be detached from all the nonsense being churned out by the media and to live a happier life is as follows. Before you do anything else, understand that you are consciousness; this is your true nature, you are life itself and you cannot die. Couple this with “there is always enough” and “there is more where that came from,” and you will be able to align yourself with the law of cause and effect and the law of attraction in a positive way. I’m sure there will be people reading this who will have difficulty understanding the concept, but I hope that if this is you, I have at the very least been able to plant a seed that will bear fruit at a later date.

For Better Or For Worse

The world truly does seem to be in chaos, but here is something to consider; another slant on things.  Without wishing to bring politics into my blog, I think it is only the most naive of people who do not see by now that the role of the media is to cause fear and mayhem amongst the masses; thus, fanning the flames of division.

But, the truth is that negativity is very loud (“hate screeches”, as Sri Sathya Sai Baba used to say), and peace is very soft and subtle.  The egoic mind is easily led, and television news bulletins and sensationalist newspaper headlines effortlessly draw in the masses, like sheep, for their daily dose of brainwashing.

But, take the fragrance of a rose, for instance.  There are no words to describe its beauty; it remains silent, yet says so much.  What I’m trying to say here is that there is so much positivity to be taken from the amazing world in which we live.  There is so much that the beauty of Mother Nature can teach us, if we are prepared to look.  The thing is, beauty doesn’t screech; it simply exists as it is, in subtle splendour.

We can also look for our own subtle splendour, that is our essential Being; who we really are.  This is the peace that passes all understanding that can only be found within ourselves.  Things always seem to be descending into chaos, because hate and fear are always shouting.  But, in reality, we are only a witness to that chaos; the eternal witness, to be more precise.  The world may sometimes appear to be getting better AND worse at the same time, but remember, for better or worse, the world is in a constant state of flux because it is ultimately an illusion; it is consciousness in motion.  The underlying, changeless, absolute truth ( who we really are) is always simply as it is, and is always accessible to us if we will just look beyond the madness.

In my next post I’m going to share with you a very simple exercise that will help you to focus on your inner subtle splendour, and shut out the screeching that wants to spin you a yarn and cause you to lose yourself in the world.  Hang in there people, I’ll be back in a few days!
